About the Trust

The Larkbeare Christian Trust exists to provide financial support for gospel workers within churches which are seeking to proclaim faithfully the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, at present specifically St Leonard’s Church.

It was established in May 2015 with the full support of the Rector and PCC of St Leonard’s to provide a means of financial giving which goes directly to the support of those workers.

What is the relationship between the Larkbeare Christian Trust and St Leonard’s Church?

The Larkbeare Christian Trust is an independent charitable trust which has no formal connection with St Leonard’s Church. The Trust’s income is currently used solely to support the ministry of St Leonard’s and the Trustees expect this to continue for the foreseeable future.

Why should I give to the Larkbeare Christian Trust rather than St Leonard’s PCC?

The PCC has a wide range of important financial responsibilities, including upkeep and running of the church buildings, administrative costs, and a large contribution towards the central Diocesan budget. Some donors, however, would like to give in a way which is directed specifically towards paying the costs of employing local gospel workers.

The Larkbeare Christian Trust provides a vehicle for such giving: all donation income of the Trust is given as grants to St Leonard’s PCC for the purpose of employing staff, for example Ministry Assistants, the Associate Minister for Children and Families, the Associate Minister for Youth and Families, the Associate Minister for Women, the Church Administrator and other Church Office staff. The Trustees do not in any way wish to encourage a reduction in giving to the PCC.

Who are the Trustees?

At present there are five Trustees, all of whom are committed members of St Leonard’s Church: James Gould, Chris Keane, Huw Parry, Sarah Richards (Chair) and Nigel Warren (Treasurer).

Does the Trust have any administrative overheads?

The overheads of the Trust are extremely small, and so very nearly 100% of donation income is used directly to support the ministry of Christian workers.
